Hi! I’m Maria
I am a Venezuelan wife and mom of two boys living in Houston, Texas since 2015. My journey began in 2016 when I started learning calligraphy after having my first baby and finding myself very much alone at home all day. It was so therapeutic that I couldn’t stop practicing! Soon I began getting requests and orders and eventually it became a business. Not very much later I decided to create wedding invitations, giving good use to my knowledge of design for having a background in the marketing and advertising field, and incorporating my calligraphy and other artistic techniques such as watercolors and illustrations was a key in order to develop my own style.
Creating is my passion and that’s why I enjoy every day I get to spend working on beautiful things that bring joy to my clients.

Behind the name
In 2017 I created So Crafty Studio as a project that would incorporate different crafted products and services, but since then things have changed so I reshaped my initial idea and concept to a better fit for what we’ve become (yes, we, because we’re growing!) and now we have evolved to ORCHID STUDIO
Why Orchid? First of all, it is one of my favorite flowers and there’s even a special story behind it: it was the flower my husband gave me as an anniversary gift in 2017, the first time we were celebrating that date here in the United States. Also, the orchid is Venezuela’s national flower so it represents a part of my own identity. And lastly, orchids represent love, luxury, beauty and strength, qualities that I believe play a big part of my journey and the products I create
